Hawaii

The goddess of the fire lives in the mountain that feeds on islands — the end, in the island chain, is written in the lava.

Hawaii's apocalypse is geological and intimate: Pele, the fire goddess, makes her home in the crater of Kilauea, and the land she stands on is a mountain built from her own eruptions. The island chain's end — an end the tradition holds in the volcano's own terms, the islands created and consumed by the same fire — is told through her. Note: Hawaii has no separate globe node (it is part of the United States in the geographic data); its page is reached through the country list and the myth entry.
